Retrospective on Public Seminar: The new feedstock producers for a fossil free chemical industry | December 10, 2024
On Tuesday December 10, the Platform hosted its annual public seminar on the topic of the new feedstock providers for a fossil free chemical industry in Amsterdam. The aim of the seminar was to kick off an investment and innovation plan and bring the fuel and the chemical sector together to identify the feedstocks needed for a green chemical industry.
On the program for the day, we looked at the supply and demand of fossil free sources in Europe and discussed how to develop new supply chains for sustainable biofeedstocks and green hydrogen. Several speakers were invited onto the stage toset the scene and present the different building blocks for the new bio-based supply chains needed for fossil free chemistry. The main message: there is a clear urgency worldwide to accelerate change and find ways to solve this multidimensional and complex puzzle. Although stakeholders may hold different interests, there is a consensus that thinking sustainably with other perspective and goals in mind is crucial. To create change and move forward, there is a need to be aligned on the necessary building blocks for a fossil free society and find ways to negotiate the steps required to reach it.
