Stakeholder meeting on Renewable Fuels in Maritime Shipping
The Platform organises a stakeholder process to gain collaborative insights on the possible role of renewable fuels in internationale shipping. This project is commissioned by the Directorate-General for Aviation and Maritime Affairs of The Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. For international shipping it has been agreed, under IMO context, to lower the greenhouse gas emissions in 2050 to half of the level of 2008. In a so-called Green Deal Maritime Shipping, Inland Shipping and Ports Dutch parties have agreed to achieve by 2050 a reduction of 70% compared to 2008-levels.
Target
The Ministry wants to explore, together with stakeholders which possible instruments and measures can be identified that could be implemented by 2030. This would require short term international agreements.
