Workshop
BioMob2 Masterclass 4: Writing session
After analysing the possibilities of marginal lands, aquatic biomass and waste and residues in the previous sessions, we can conclude that there is a high potential of this advanced bio feedstock availability for e.g. bio refinery purposes. Now, it’s time to get into action! We would like to think with you of the question: how to scale up? The final session will be a summary of previous masterclasses, a short presentation regarding social parts of the bio feedstock availability and finally, and a writing session. The goal of this session is to come up with a set of recommendations to help the sector in initiating advanced bio feedstock supply chain and scale.
The preliminary programme is as follows:
- 10h00-10h05: Welcome and introduction
- 10h05-10h20: Recap and summary previous masterclasses
- 10h20-10h35: Presentation of Jesus Esparsa Serrano about Social aspects of biomass supply chains
Writing session
- 10h35-10h45: Goal and set up of the manifest
- 10h45-10h55: Break
- 10h55-11h30: Break-out sessions writing-up recommendations for advanced bio feedstock supply chains
- 11h30-11h55: Plenary presentation and discussion
- 11h55-12h00: Closure of the BioMob
Background on the Biomass Mobilization Innovation and Strategy Course
Scaling up sustainable bio-feedstock supply chains is a big challenge for many companies and organisations in the transition to the circular, bioeconomy. This is touching on different parts and dimensions of innovation. It is about identifying bio-feedstock potential that do not harm -or strengthen- biodiversity and contribute to carbon sequestration, logistic challenges, transparency, technical innovations and cooperation.
In 4 masterclasses you will examine how to identify and develop sustainable bio-feedstock supply chains for biorefinery.
Content
During the course you focus on different approaches for biomass mobilisation and dimensions of innovation such as governance, logistics, commodities, policies, revenue models. Understanding how to develop value together with (local) stakeholders. Innovative concepts for intermediate products, commoditisation for biorefinery technology platforms, including certification and logistics.
