Advances Biofuels and engine developments - essential in the energy transition

This side event at the European Energy and Industry Summit addresses the potential of agricultural residues and the challenges and potential in the differente transport sectors. Moreover, it will be shown how technology is key to convert agricultural residues into advanced sustainable biofuels that meet the stringent requirements at the engine engineering side.
With key-notes from ECN, part of TNO, Biobased Delta, IEA Advanced Motor fuels and panel discussion with HAN Automotive, TNO automotive, SkyNRG and Maritiem Kenniscentrum.

The event was moderated by Eric van den Heuvel of the Platform Duurzame Biobrandstoffen.

Programme

13.45 – 14.00 Welcome and introduction
André Faaij, ECN part of TNO
Setting the scene: Advanced is defined by the resources, it requires innovative technologies to create drop-in or new fuels for the transport market.

Biobased feedstock and advanced biofuel production

14.00 – 14.30 Biomass from wastes residues in industrial food chains, two case presentations
Biobased Delta, Marcel van Berkel
Cargill, Edwin Berends
